My love with MUFE base products is no secret, everything in my current makeup base routine is by them (except for concealer, for which I use the NARS creamy concealer). After my last compact smashed, I decided to pick up the MUFE Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation in Hong Kong.I'm not a powder foundation girl but for on-the-go, I've always liked to carry a powder compact with me for any touch ups as I tend to get a little bit oily around my nose throughout the day.
Usually when I've finished applying my makeup, I will dust a thin layer of translucent powder all over with a big brush, and press it in around my T-zone but I have fallen so in love with the finish of this powder foundation that I have swapped my loose powder out in favor of it.
This powder foundation is unlike any I've tried, the powder is incredibly fine and soft. A couple of things that bother me a lot about powders is that it can feel heavy, like its just sitting on your face, and it can emphasise pores. The MUFE powder foundation does neither of those. The coverage is very sheer but it blends so seamlessly with my skin and gives a slightly airbrushed and soft-focus effect. When I was purchasing this, the SA told me that it contains considerably less talc (an ingredient that is known to block your pores) than other powder foundations on the market, which is why it feels so lightweight. It also contains Aloe, a hydrating ingredient that allows it to do its job of mattifying without feeling or looking dry and chalky.
I have the shade #117 which is a perfect match for my NC25 / Nars Sheer Glow Fiji / MUFE F&B Foundation #20 skin. I have received so many compliments on my skin since coming back from HK and I honestly think that this powder has everything to do with it. I can't help but inspect my skin super closely in the mirror when I have this on and every time, I am still blown away by how smooth and natural it looks.
In terms of longevity, I don't have oily skin so I can't comment on how long it would last on oilier complexions but on my combination-skin, I found that coverage faded only a little by the end of my 9-10 hour shifts around the nose but even then, it is barely noticeable because it's never cakey, patchy or unflattering.
If you're after heavy coverage, this is not for you. I like my base products as light as possible (any problem areas can be fixed with concealer) while still doing its job of evening out my overall complexion and this definitely does that.
I am now on the hunt for a retractable kabuki brush to pop in my makeup bag to use with this because I don't like the sponge that comes with it. Not because there's anything wrong with the sponge, I just don't like the finish it gives when it's been patted on dry but also for hygiene reasons.
The Makeup Forever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation was a game changer and I think I've finally found my holy grail powder compact. The SA told me I can use this wet for a more satiny finish as well but I have yet to try it.
What's your holy grail powder foundation?
Any retractable kabuki brush recommendations please!!
